DIY Jockey Box flare fittings question

I am planning on building a jockey box and I am looking at getting a 7 pass plate like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cold-Plate-7-Pass-/380378766276?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5890575bc4 . They said I can get either the 3/8" or 14" flare fittings. Is one more advantageous than the other? I am going to start with 4 taps

There is no performance different, id stick with 1/4 just because thats what most other beer equipment uses.

1/4" flare fittings will be fine, 3/8 would only be needed if the vinyl tubing to the keg is very long.
