Bazooka "T" pick-up issues

I have a Bazooka "T" pick up screen with Sanke fittings.

I'm a little upset that over 1.5 gallons of wort is left over. As you know, there is a slotted elbow that is attached with only a hose clamp. Does anybody have a better solution for more liquid pickup?
 
I added a bazooka tube to my keggle ( i assume you are using a keggle?) and added 2 stainless 90 degree elbows, this brought the tube right down to the bottom of the keggle and leaves about 1/2 gallon of water.
 
I guess my real issue is that the pressure fittings lose vacuum, thus leaving over a gallon of wort. Any ideas how to tighten things up?
