smack pack reeks

i just pitched a WLP1056 into a starter, it really wreaked of sulfur as soon as i opened it. it ballooned about 2 days ago and i figured i had to get it in some wort tonight, but has it already gone bad. strong strong sulfur smell... useable?

Yeast of all kind make smells even when fresh out of smack packs. Sulfur is common.

I doubt a fresh pack is bad. I vote usable.

I agree that the yeast is most likely fine. Yeast by products have a lot of different smells, and a smack pack does not allow for any air to escape, so you will smell everything once you open it.
