I'm setting up my own system to pump system for different alcoholic beverages and its mimicking commercial systems that dispense wine. I went to a gas supply shop and spoke to the owner and he said argon would be my best bet but suggested that I just try it out with nitrogen since he said it is pretty much the same for what I need and a little cheaper.

Is there any affect to wine or other liquids that are pumped with argon. Or in my case nitrogen? Will long term exposure be bad(aside from opened wine going bad after a few days)?

I've been posting like a little build blog if you want to see what im working with http://chrismendes.com/blog once im done will be here http://chrismendes.com/projects?page=automatedbar

Nitrogen has about 1/3 the solubility in water as argon (20 mg/L vs 62 mg/L @ STP), so it is a better choice. Both are non-reactive as far as affecting the wine flavor.
