Imperial Witbier Experience?

So, I'm thinking about brewing up an imperial witbier, which I have seen a few people on here brew before. To me, it almost seems like an oxymoron with regard to conditioning... wheat beers are general best young do to a variety of reasons. However, an 8-9% beer typically takes a couple of months to mellow out a bit.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Does one positive outweigh the other in your opinion? I imagine it's not a style that can get away without at least a little compromise somewhere...

ohiobrewtus had brewed up a version that seemed to go over very well.. I'm not sure how long it conditioned before being tasted though.

I have an imperial wit that I am just now cold crashing. I brewed it in mid January and is sitting at 9.7% ABV. I have noticed over the past several weeks the hot alcohol taste/burn mellow out quite a bit, and while I'm sure it could benefit from conditioning more, it is really pretty great right now. I'd definitely treat it more like the strong ale that it is, and let it condition for a little bit.
