this is the third brew that I have either added DME ( 3 lbs) or
Candi Sugar( 1 lb). I just like the added ABV boost:drunk: . My problem is everytime the finished product is really sweet. What do I need to do to correct for the added sugar or DME? Add more hops? Do i just double what the kit tells me to use?

Thanks,
Mike

The best way to balance a higher ABV is more bittering hops, but your ale might be sweet because the yeast died too soon. Try adding a dry white wine yeast or champagne yeast to the secondary to dry it out. Next time, try a Strong Ale yeast.
