I used a starter for the first time and I'm likely to make one every time from here on out...but that's not why I'm writing. I'm writing because I've never seen a krausen glisten with the sparkle of fresh yeast like this batch. It looks amazing. Not at all like the dry foamy krausen I'm used to seeing. I have to believe it's because I pitched a crap load more yeast than I used to.

Incidentally, I made my very first batches over the week-end and used REALLY, REALLY healthy starters.

I'm seeing this shiny film on the krausen of both my brews and am glad to know it's a good sign-- my guys are very happy!
