Hello All,
I brewed an ale yesterday and my efficiency was really bad. I ended up hitting 1.032 instead of my target of 1.062. I know why I was off so much. Thats to be fixxed on my next brew. My current problem is I am trying to calculate how much extract to boil and add to the fermenter. If I dissolve 1 LB of DME in 1 Gal of water is that 1 gravity point? Assuming 100% efficiency on malt extract? I need to bump my gravity points a little bit. I also only got 4 gallons of Wort from my process. so If I could add 1 Gallon with 1.156 SG that would even me out to 1.062 Right?

There are some online tools that will help you. 1lb of DME in 1g of water contributes about 46 gravity points (1.046).
1.5 gallons of 1.140 wort should bring you up to 5.5 gallons of 1.061 wort assuming you started at 4 gallons of 1.032
