Hi all! Its been a long time since last brew, i where really busy this winter. So last brew was in october. I had put the yeast cake into different small jar ( maybe 1 cup in each ) i did not had time to wash the yeast from the cake so i put it like that.

I want to know if i can brew with it or should i dump it in the garbage!
Yeast is Wyeast american ale and its in the fridge.

Thank you

The only way to know for sure is to make a starter. If it takes off, looks healthy and smells ok, you should be fine. If you are worried about it, just toss it and get a fresh smack pack.

Drain the liquid, make a starter, and I'm sure you will find it is fine.

You really do need to make a starter, as you have no idea of the viability (how many live yeast) of the slurry you took.

I've used slurry up to 6 months old before with no issues. I did drain and make a starter.
