Any thoughts on this recipe? Just had LeftHand Smoke Jumper and was trying to model something similar to that.

Grain Bill
5 lbs 2-row
5 lbs Rauch malt
1 lb home smoked cherry malt
.75 lbs Chocolate malt
.5 lbs Crystal 120
.25 lbs Roasted Barley
.5 lbs White Wheat Malt

Hop Schedule
1 oz Magnum at 60 min
1 oz Mount Hood at 30 min

Yeast
Safale US-05

Stats
OG- 1.087
FG- 1.020
ABV- 8.9%
IBU- 55

Any thoughts/suggestions would be helpful.

Obviously no one has replied yet but I'm gonna give it a shot as is and let you know how it turns out. Should be rich, dark, and have a decent punch of smoke

I got this off of their website.

Style Smoked Imperial Porter
Color Black, 84 SRM
Body Medium-Full ABV 8.80%
IBU's 50
Plato 21°
Malts Rauch, 2-Row, Hand-smoked, Chocolate, Cara Aroma, Roasted Barley and Wheat
Hops Magnum and Mt. Hood

Using the darkest SRM choices from Beer Smith for your given malts, I'm only getting a SRM of 42 and an OG of 1.062

The closest I can come to their numbers is the following, which seems like a lot of roasted barley and chocolate

Ingredients:
------------
Amt Name Type # %/IBU
5 lbs 8.0 oz Brewers Malt 2-Row (Briess) (1.8 SRM) Grain 1 32.4 %
5 lbs Smoked Malt (Weyermann) (2.0 SRM) Grain 2 29.4 %
2 lbs Cherry Smoked Malt (9.0 SRM) Grain 3 11.8 %
1 lbs 8.0 oz Chocolate Malt (350.0 SRM) Grain 4 8.8 %
1 lbs 8.0 oz Roasted Barley (Crisp) (695.0 SRM) Grain 5 8.8 %
1 lbs Caraaroma (Weyermann) (178.0 SRM) Grain 6 5.9 %
8.0 oz Wheat - White Malt (Briess) (2.3 SRM) Grain 7 2.9 %
1.00 oz Magnum [14.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 8 40.8 IBUs
1.00 oz Mt. Hood [6.00 %] - Boil 15.0 min Hop 9 8.7 IBUs

Estimated OG: 1.080 SG
Estimated Color: 76.4 SRM
Estimated IBU: 49.5 IBUs

Any input into this? Just had it and it is on my fall must do list

If you're making it now to drink in the fall, it will have lost much of its smokiness by then. If you can smoke your own grain, I would use that for all the smoked malt. It will be fresher, and cherry (or any bbq-type wood) smoke is more interesting than beech.

Sorry forgot my batch size is set to 4 gal. I think that's way too much chocolate and roast barley. You'd never be able to drink it! They've gotta be leaving something out that adds some blackness to it.. Maybe black patent??
