Are these strains identical? Similar? In name only?
I just started a Scottish ale using WLP028. It got off to a fast start (less than 8 hours), despite White Labs caution that it may be a slow starter. They give an ideal temperature range of 65 to 70 (also, does not ferment well less than 62), while Wyeast says 55 to 75. This makes it sound like two different yeasts.
Anyway, Im looking forward to this beer, as both SWMBO and myself have really been enjoying the research into Scottish ales.
Anyone have any experiences they would like to share with the class?
