I have not even finished my 1st beer (Porter) and want to learn more!
1) Do not want to waste money?About how many 5 gallon batches could I produce before plastic wears down and I go to Glass?

2)Does any one have a Octoberfest German beer kit with the easy liquid mash?

3)If I go to grain kits can I do it with the plastic set?

Man O Man , I am attending a beer class 101, This is the best!!!!:ban:

Thebrewhouse.com is one of the better places to get pre made wort kits ready to go.
Kind of like making really good koolaid ;)

They sell them all over the place here in Ottawa and they are fun to hack :D

In answer to your first question, the buckets can last for many batches, but, the one thing that can be problematic is if the buckets become scratched or damaged. Even the smallest scratches can be grounds for harboring bacteria, which is why you must be strict with your sanitation regimen. This is why glass carboys are great; they are easy to clean, sanitize and do not scratch easily (nearly impossible to scratch on the inside). Not to mention, it's cool to watch the fermentation in action and show your buddies what beer looks like before it hits the bottles.
