I think that usually, as long as the beer style ferments relatively dry and cleanly, then most dry yeast, especially Nottingham, should work excellently. A lot of people now only use liquids for special brews like hefes, belgians, etc. where yeast is essential to flavor production and/or a high ABV/gravity tolerance is needed.
