Gigayeast golden gate lager

Does anyone have any experience with this yeast? I opened the bag to pitch the yeast and was greeted with a powerful sour smell that I have never experienced before. I've never used a lager yeast or this yeast in particular so I am not sure what it should smell like but it did not seem normal. I pitched anyway because that's all I had but just wondering if this is normal for this yeast or if I got a bad batch.

This was my most perfect brew day I've had and would be so disappointed if it's ruined by a bad bag of yeast.
