For example, if the OG was 1.030 for a five gallon batch and I added a cup of regular table sugar, what would the OG move to?

I'm trying to see how much sugar I might need to added to a 5 gallon malt beverage I am attempting. Thanks

A pound of sugar is 46 points or 0.009 for five gallons. Don't know what a cup would do.

1 pound of sugar will give you just over a 1% increase in Alc.By Vol.

I figure a cup weighs about 5 ounces..so..if the .009 thing is true, and one cup is about a third of a pound, so it will raise it about .003.
