Hey guys, currently I have a sack mead in primary that has been fermenting for about two weeks. My wife has a bunch of organic dates that we need to use up and we're both sick of eating them. My question is, is there any reason not to pit them and include them in my secondary along with some yeast energizer? This is my first mead. Has anyone ever tried dates in secondary? Are there any undesirable chemicals in dates? If anyone has ever tried this did the flavor come out okay?

Thanks in advance

I have used them before with a rasin mead and it was very tasty. The date flavor was very thin though... but maybe I just didn't use enough.

I'd say "what the hell" and give it a go.

Just remember, that the actual flavour of dates is more about the sugar content, and the flavour, while distinctive, isn't really very strong.....
