Hello everyone..

I just did my 2nd AG brew tonight. It was a NB Oatmeal stout.
Everything was going smoothly until I put my kettle on the stove
and realized that there were some grains that had made it through
my braid and into my kettle. Upon further review, my tubing came
lose from the braid meaning I ended up with a decent amount of
grain in the kettle. I tried to scoop out as much as I could, but
more comes to the top when I boil.

Is this beer going to turn out or might it be spoiled due to the grain
in the kettle during boil? I will strain it out when I'm done and before
I pitch the yeast.

**This did happen once to me when I was brewing an extract Irish Red. I added the grains to my boil instead of steeping them (I was very new back then), but the beer turned out ok anyway. Might I get lucky?

You might be fine. Let it go through it's fermentation and decide then. You could have some astringency problems if you had too many grains in the boil.

Thanks for the reply Suth..

When I strained it I noticed there weren't as many
as I thought. Maybe a baseball sized clump in my paint
strainer. Some of that was hops so hopefully I'll be ok.

It's a stout, that should help with any astringency issues. Maybe... Just ferment it and let us know. I'm usually paranoid about ANYTHING winding up in my brew kettle, even my girlfriends hair when she just walks into the kitchen.
