I somehow lost a tailpeice washer for my shank. Has anyone used something else? ......perhaps something from Home Depot. I tried an o-ring with keg lube and made a mess. I thought a garden hose washer might work but it is too large. Thanks for any help!

Any of the online places sell them. Try a real hardware store, not HD. take the tailpiece with you and try to get a flat washer to fit. Try sink washers. They should be about the same size. Or get a couple of smaller orings that fit inside of each other. You only need to make a seal between the shank and the tailpiece. You don't have to crank the nut down so tightly that it deforms the orings.

You could also cut down the outer size of the hose washer and use that until you get the correct one.
