When you take a few loops from a slant and now its considered spent, what do you do with them?

(Assumes they are not disposable or plastic test tubes.)

Do you:

1) Clean them out and refill then with media.

or

2) Just pressure cook them again, slant cool and re-noc.

Thanks!!

When using gelatin, all you have to do is run the vial under hot tap water for a few seconds and the gelatin will melt and slide out. I do that, then just refill when I've got enough empties.

I suppose in theory you could just re-cook them, killing whatever yeast is left, as any yeast in the media would only serve as food to the new yeast anyway, but I have not tried it.
