I didn't realize fluorescent light could have the same effect as sunlight on the fermenter.

I have a fluorescent light in the kitchen, and it was shining on the top corner of my carboy for a few hours a day the past few days. The light source is about 25' away from my carboy and only hits the top edge of the carboy. I just moved a box to completely block the light.

It shouldn't be skunked from just a few hours of exposure should it?

Thanks

It's doubtful that its skunked,,,I used to brew in a house that used to be a two room school house that all the light fixtures were flourescent. Never had a skunked batch, but shortly after starting brewing I did start throwing a t shirt onto the carboy and put a clothes pin around the neck of the tshirt to keep it nice and snug around the top.

^ Just cover it up and keep it as dark as possible - no worries!
