right now i am a extract brewer doing parcial boils but recently i was wonder if i could use one of those big black canning pots to do a full boil. i have one big enugh that is brand new that has been collecting dust so any info would be great.

Most canning pots are aluminum but I've never seen a black one. If it is aluminum it should be fine.

I use a large canning pot to can starter wort. I can about 5 gallons at a time so I can make starters in about 30 minutes.

Is it enameled? That's fine as long as there are no chips. Exposed iron can make for weird tastes.
