Pirate Flag Porter

A terrific recipe modified slightly from a recipe for Flag Porter from Elgood & Sons, Wisbech, England which was an early 1800's Whitbread Style Porter

Beer: Pirate Flag Porter Style: Robust Porter
Type: All grain Size: 5.5 gallons
Color: 64 HCU (~26 SRM)
Bitterness: 28 IBU
OG: 1.062 FG: 1.015
Alcohol: 6.1% v/v (4.8% w/w)

Water: 1tsp Gypsum to Mash water
1tsp gypsum to Boil water

Grain:
10 lb. British 2-row
12 oz. British Brown
8 oz. British Crystal 55L
8 oz. British Chocolate

Mash: 80% efficiency
Mash in ~13qts water @ 150F / 90min
Sparge w/ ~4.25gl water @ 170F

Boil: 90 minutes SG 1.053 6.5 gallons

Hops:
1.0 oz. First Gold (8% AA, 90 min.) Sub'd in for EKG
.5 oz. Fuggles (6.1% AA, 15 min.)

Yeast: WLP003 Irish Ale Yeast

BTW this is the finished product. Very chewy and chocolaty due to the Brown Malt.

This may be my first brew once my single tier system is ready.
