I’m going to brew my first wheat beer. I would like to get some of the tropical fruit flavor/aroma from Citra, yet not over hop the malt profile.

Here is what Im thinking:

4lbs White Wheat Malt
3lbs Pale Malt
1lb Wheat DME
.5lb Honey Malt

.5oz Cascade 60min
.5-1oz Citra at flame out

I think that looks like a winner. I've used citra a few times and have even made a citra smash. When non brewing friends try the beer they think its a fruit beer. Also like the honey malt addition. In my experience, half of the typical aroma additions of citra are equivalent to the full amounts of other hops. I can get the same intensity, though different character, of 1oz cascade with 1/2 oz citra. That stuff is powerful.
