I've been noticing the last few times at Total Wine that my purchases were past the "best by' or 'enjoy by' dates. does anyone know if that is a common practice? Historically, I have never been a huge craft beer guy but really am enjoying try new beers from week to week. I just realized I was drinking 2 month past due Stone Porter last week....and the week before.

It all depends on the style, bigger beers (usually) get better with age but always check dates on hoppy beers like ipa's. I dont have total wine here, but i went to my local bevmo and grabbed a sixer of a tasty ipa i like of a nice stocked shelf. I then looked at the bottled date and saw it was from last march. Back it went and i ended up getting something else rather than be disappointed.
