Brewers,

I noticed after cleaning my plastic fermenting bucket that it smelled significantly like beer. Doesn't seem good for future brews. Is there a better way to clean the bucket?

Replies appreciated.

Thanks

NRS

Give it an overnight soak with Hot Oxiclean Free or PBW. No scrubbing with a brush, but you can wipe it with a rag. It will retain some of the smell & color of the previous beer but it's nothing to worry about.

I'd soak it with Oxiclean, but my buckets always have a smell to them. It doesn't seem to have an effect on later brews.

Yeah, beer does tend to smell like beer.

If the bucket is clean, and has no scratches, you are probably good to go.
