a friend just gave me 2 white pumpkins. They look like a gourd and believe they are actually a type of Squash. They are white with the green stripes. Anyway, can these be made into wine? If so, should they be baked first, in order to carmalize the sugars or just do it raw?

I made sweet potato mead a couple of years ago that tastes a lot like pumpkin pie. It's the spices that give pumpkin (and sweet potatoes) its flavor. I'd steam the pumpkin chunks, add spices and sugar and you'll have a very tasty wine that works great for Thanksgiving (not this one, unfortunately).

Does anybody have a good recipe for pumpkin wine? Going to have anywhere from 8-15 pumpkins this year. Need something to do with them...:mug:
