Ok, this is my second batch and I was wondering if it is advisable to pitch an additional packet of yeast before bottling to ensure carbonation? Any input on this would be very much appreciated.

Why would you? There is plenty of yeast to carbonate, unless maybe it is a high gravity belgian that has been in the fermentor for 6 months or some nonsense. Some people pitch new yeast on Lambics, Flemish, Flanders etc. but they typically take years to be ready to bottle.
