can anyone tell me if there is a simple and standard adjustment to increase batch size from 5 gal to 5.5 gal or 5 gal to 6 gal....besides just adding a half gallon of water--Id like the OG to stay the same.

Basically, I just want to have 5 full gallons after all the hydrometer sampling and the beer lost in the trub.

thoughts?

To go from 5 gal to 5.5 gal, multiply your ingredient quantities by 1.1 (or by 1.2 to go from 5 to 6 gal). You may want to tinker a bit with the recipe once you've done that, since it will produce some odd quantities, but that is where brewing software can really be helpful.
