So, just when I am about to call myself a “brewmaster” I suffer yet another epic failure. In an attempt to allow others to learn from my mistakes I will post it here. After thoroughly researching the differences between 2 row and 6 row pale malt, I decided 6 row would be completely adequate and cheaper for my American Amber. Only one problem, 6 row tends to be a tad bit smaller in kernel size…. Yes I even read that when doing my “research”. But, in my haste, I failed to adjust my corona mill appropriately, and just assumed it would be fine. This error resulted in a bunch of un-milled grain and a whopping 68% efficiency. Oh well, anyone care for a Lite American Ale?

I'm a million years from calling myself a brewmaster or even a brewslave.

I wouldn't call 68% an epic failure. I'd call it mildly disappointing in the 70%-73% world in which I exist. That's homebrewing.
