Thoughts on how this recipe should taste

This is my first all grain recipe, an English india pale ale. It tasted very malty after primary, so I wanted to dry hop it to add some aroma to it. I'm not sure if 4oz was too much or just that I don't like EKG. But, it tasted way different. It almost had a chocolate after taste to it. Granted this was just the left overs of a hydrometer reading but I didn't like the taste. Anyone have any thoughts. On paper, this recipe should taste good (I think). I haven't used EKG but I have heard many good things about it. Will the flavor change significantly with age and carbonation? It tasted good before I dry hopped it (biscuity, malty and bitter) and now, not so much.

i would dry hop with 2 oz for the first 7 days then add 2 more oz for another 7 day then let it condition for 3 weeks in the bottle at room temp then at least 1 week in the frige
