I now know what an infected beer looks like and smells like. I opened an IPA that has been bottled for 10 days just to sample. It smelled like cider, was very cloudy and had white strands floating in it. This was in a plastic water bottle that I used to keep track of the carbonation. I thought that my whole batch was lost. I decided to take two bottles from the batch and refridgerate them. I opened them one day apart and, while it still needs more conditioning, it looks, smells and tastes great. I am extremely happy and relieved. I must have done a poor job of sanitizing that plastic bottle. Just had to tell someone. :)
