I got the Northern Brewer bourbon barrel porter extract kit, and brewed it last Sunday. According to the directions, you're supposed to soak the oak cubes in bourbon 24-48 hours prior to adding it all to the secondary. Would it be better or worse (or even make a difference) to go ahead and start the soak now, a month ahead of time? The only thing I can think of that would change is maybe a more pronounced oak flavor in the end due to it being soaked in alcohol that much longer. Any thoughts? Thanks

Go for it. No harm in soaking longer. I like to think it gives more time for the oak to absorb bourbon, and for the bourbon to extract the oakiness.
