So I pitched some yeast, notty, last sunday after brewing and waited three days. No change in gravity or signs of fermentation. So I pitched some Safale 05 into it and it took off.

My question...will the pack of Notty that I pitched, which did not do anything, cause any problems or off flavors?

No, if it really was dead, it will just be nutrient for the yeast that is working (little cannibals). If it wasn't dead, and it was the Nottingham that took off when you pitched the new yeast, then both of the yeasts will work together, but there shouldn't be any off-flavors because of that.

Ok great. I didn't think any issues would occur, but wanted to ask. I pretty much thought exactly what you said.

Thanks!
