I am contemplating creating a beer in honor of the demise of the Twinkie and Hostess going out of business. In true Zombieland fashion, I am looking to create a beer recipe that immortalizes the Hostess Twinkie. There is a local brewery here that does a pretty good rendition of the Moonpie. So, I can't be completely crazy. I am thinking of starting with a Cream Ale recipe and adding vanilla beans to the fermentation. So, now I have a vanilla cream ale. I need to get the sponge cake part down, but that was typically flavorless. So, I think I am most of the way there. Let me know, any thoughts out there as far as yeasts and or specialty grains to consider.

To quote Tallahassee: "This whole Twnkie thing ain't over."

I think light crystal like 10 may do the trick, or even just base malt. Mash high, hop low. I like the idea.
