I don't know much about LOVE controllers, but could it be that it is trying to cool, but turning a heater on, making it hotter, hence wanting to cool more (hence, the heater keeps running)?
 
you know i set the function to heating, but all of the sudden the heating element wont stop what so ever, even if the alarm is on or off the thing keeps running... i brewed today and i kept having to manually shut it off and to be honest i wouldnt have made the system like that if i actually had to get involved that much.lol i wanted to sit on the couch in my AC and let the grains mash themself.lol
