What's a good general rule of thumb for boil off as a % of total volume per hour? I know there are many variables (pot size, surface area of boil, vigor of boil, etc) but I'm curious to know what you all use as a best guess for your recipe formulation. Thank you!!!:D

You cant ask that really. Boil off is a constant, basically. So mine is say 20% with a 5 gallon batch, which would be 10% with a 10 gallon batch. It wouldnt DOUBLE with a larger batch, see?

I boil off 1.5 gallons/hour

Boil off as a percentage is really bad calculating, most software does it as gal./hour, because that is what it is.
