DME Amount - 12 lbs too much for 5 gal.?

Guys -

Wanting to make a potent ale.

Is 12 pounds of DME too much for 5 gallons?

Using WYeast American Ale Yeast.

I'd say so...I usually only use 6-8 lbs. 12 lbs would give you over 1.10 OG, but hey...if that's what you're after...

Might be tough to stir that in and you're definitely gonna need a few wyeast packs or a big starter

That should put you in the 1.105 ballpark, with a potential for a fuzz over 10% abv, Make a good starter and you should be fine with 12lbs. Just make sure you age it at least 6 months before drinking it, a year would be better lol.
