Alright so I brew a lot of beers but have never done ciders, I bought some cider at the grocery store that is pasteurized and has potassium sorbate to preserve. My question is can I turn this into a hard cider or do I need to just drink it and buy some other stuff. If so what would you do to it to brew? If I need new stuff what should I purchase, no preservatives? Thanks in advance!!

Yea the potassium sorbate is going to inhibit reproduction in the yeast you pitch. So they won't multiply. But you could pitch a huge amount to overcome this but it would be just as easy to get different juice and more reliable.

My first two ferments were Whole Food's organic apple juice.

The the best you will find at the store is juice that has power been pasteurized but contains no preservatives.

And find a place to plant apple Cider apple trees. : )

So... drink the first, so you can enjoy the second.
