So because my local beer store only got a case of Yakima Twilight, and I only got a sixer, I've decided to make a clone recipe based on what the informationally frugal guys at Victory told us. This is just a shot in the dark and I won't be able to try it next to the real thing so basically I'm making a dark IPA based in the YT ingredients.
This is for 3 gallons(test batch amount)
4.00 lb Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 52.08 %
1.00 lb Munich Malt (9.0 SRM) Grain 13.02 %
1.00 lb Vienna Malt (3.5 SRM) Grain 13.02 %
0.75 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 9.77 %
0.50 lb White Wheat Malt (2.4 SRM) Grain 6.51 %
0.25 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt80L (80.0 SRM) Grain 3.26 %
2.00 oz Dehusked carafa II (412.0 SRM) Grain 2.34 %
0.50 oz Columbus (Tomahawk) [14.00 %] (60 min) Hops 37.8 IBU
0.50 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] (15 min) Hops 17.4 IBU
1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] (5 min) Hops 9.2 IBU
1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] (Dry Hop 3 days) Hops -
1 Pkgs Nottingham (Danstar #-) Yeast-Ale
I'm going to mash at 152 for 60min.
ferment with nottingham at 65
Est Original Gravity: 1.065 SG
Est Final Gravity: 1.015 SG
based on 70% efficiency because I haven't used my new 3 gal mash tun yet. If I go up then I go up
It won't be 8.7% ABV but my little MLT wont hold enough grain to pull that off. Should be around 6.5% good for an IPA.
Thanks for any and all comments.
