I was online at a HBS store, they had a beer kit called Nog but i could not find out what it was. It was in the beer kit section so has to be a beer right? I'm thinking a far away country lol. Just curious. Thank You.

I've often wondered this before as well. They actually had a Navy club at an Army base in Korea that I went to that brewed thier own "Nog". It was actually quite good. It reminded me of a bock or a dopplebock but I think the style (or whatever) is actually English. I'm sure it is just a term for an old pub type brew that got the sailors drunk.

I've seen Nogs classified as English Brown Ale, but I've also seen them in the "Strong Old Ale" category. Considering Brown Ale is thought of as the grandaddy of ale styles, I guess this isn't too big a problem.
