How would i devise a recipe for 1-2 barrel batches? Do I just triple a 5 gallon batch for a 1 barrel? or 6.5 times for a 2 bbl batch? Just curious, I am looking to buy this....

curious about recipe formulation first. I will buy grain by the bag, hops by the lb, and a good deal on yeast from a buddy. Then cultivate my own after that.

I fixed the link for oyu, you had some extras at the end....

For something like this, I'd go over to www.probrewer.com and search around. Might have some info about making recipes larger. I'd bet you can just scale up a recipe as you need with something like promash, but I'd definitely search around and make sure.

Why ya buying that? Plannign on opening a small brewpub or something?

lol, i was trying to figure it out , thx, I have had my eyes on this for a while now. 2 bbl is not to big. I can do larger sizes with it, or still do 10 gallon batches. My club likes to brew 15-20 gallons of a members EKU, so this would do it all in 1 session, instead of 4-5 systems all set up in a row.

There is nothing different about formulating large batches. Just run all of the calculations from scratch. Might want to ask on probrewer.com though, just in case things like the hop utilization by batch size curve isn't linear.

Don't forget 1bl is 31 gals not 15....

corey, i can download the pro version of promash, and that should be all you need. just keep the %'sof each grain in the bill the same as they are in a 5 g or 10 g batch. i can brun a copy and get it to you????
