Fall temperatures have made it to the Chicago area and I needed to make a fresh 5 gal batch of Star San. After filling the bucket with cold water took a temp, 62.5 F, much better than 71F a month ago.

I tried using a CFC for my last 2 batches and coolest I could get output wort using tap water and throttle back of wort flow to slightly more than a trickle was +14F above tap water temp.

I know I could have used a pre-chiller but I wanted a baseline and have the facilities to cool the wort for several hours in the fermenter prior to pitching.
