I'm about to start on a pumpkin ale, I don't have nutmeg or mace right now. Can I just pitch them into the secodary a week from now instead of boilin them to prevent a trip to the store?

I did similar last week. I'll let you know how it turns out in a week or three once it's kegged. Sry for not being much help as this is my first pumpkin pale too ;)...

A spice tea is the way to go. Search for yuri's thunderstruck recipe. You'll only need maybe a teaspoon and a half total of whatever blend it called for. He used pampered chef punpkin pie spice. I'm posting from mobile so I can't easily post the link. It was very strongly spiced with a small amount.
