Can anyone identify this Stein?

You should look for a decent antiques shop, and/or an auction house. A good shop can give you an appraisal and a general identification, and from there you can dig into specifics with an expert. I had a couple of Asian vases examined at an antique collectors shop and they were able to identify them from the 1930s. This was based on a small marking on the bottom, and the general style, color, materials. I found out I had a distant uncle in the merchant marines in the UK that probably bought or traded for them and they got handed down in our family over the years.
 
No markings on the bottom or inside. The stein is about 5 to 6 inches tall.

Good call on the antiques shop. I'll let y'all know what I find out.

I think you're right on the stein for kids!

It seems that back in Germany (and probably other countries) kids would drink a small amount of beer (probably table beer from second runnings). These cups were called Kinderkrugs, or literally "children pitcher."
