I made a yeast starter last night, it's been little bit more than 24 hours now.

Is it normal that when I shake the flask that foam will go crazy? It's like it is carbonated, because I can see small bubbles just like a soda...

Just want to make sure the yeast starter can be used tomorrow...

They foam up quite a bit when shaking for the first few days.

If you plan to pitch the entire starter 24 - 48 hours can be sufficient.

If you plan on decanting it will need a few more days. About 48-72 hours to ferment and about 24-48 hours to settle if crash cooled.

I am pitching it tomorrow. So it will be about 36 hours by then.

Sorry, it's my first brew tomorrow, so I am new at this...

Depending on the health of the yeast and the size of the starter 36 hours may be just enough. Ideally you want the starter to ferment out, but yeast and schedules don't always go together. Remember next time to make it a few days ahead of time.

No need to be sorry we all went through this sort off stuff. ;)

I know. It will be closer to around 40-42 hours. I am start to brew at around 9am tomorrow, so I probably won't pitch until noon or so.

My first brew, and it's an AG brew....
