Brewers,

I just finished brewing an AHS Porter kit. It included 4.5 oz. of priming sugar. A priming sugar calculator stated that a Porter should needs 3.3 oz. of sugar to achieve 2.1 volumes of CO2. Seems like 4.5 ounces is half again too much. What are your opinions?

Thanks.

I like my beers carbed up a bit more than 2.1 volumes, so I'd use more sugar. I rarely agree with the "priming calculators", though. I like my bottled beers to have enough carb to pour them and then have a bit of a head to hold the aroma in the glass. I dislike flat or close to flat beers, unless they are authentic "cask ales".

I'm with Yooper, I like a little bit more carb. I like the mouthfeel better...
