old keg question

a acquaintance of mine has an old keg sitting in his backyard that has been there for years due to the holes drilled in the bottom (don't ask). would it be possible to have those welded shut and still hold up to boiling, etc?

yes a good welder could do it . if they are small then just a weld and a grind would pretty much make them smooth. If they are way large then a SS patch would be in order.
