Does anybody use these to heat there keggles. I'm building a brew cart and was told this would be a good burner for my cart. Also does anybody know where I can buy heat shields? Or is this something I would have to make myself? If its something I have to make how would I do this or what materials would I need? Cheers:mug:

I can't comment about a dedicatd brewshield, I have tried aluminum flashin, but without actually attaching it to the SQ-14 stand it isn't as effective as I'd like it to be. Having said that, aluminum foil is cheap and works wonders. Wrap it around the burner, and your set.

I do use this burner on my 25 gallon kettle, it delivers a lot of heat! It eats through propane pretty quickly though so it really depends on how big your kettles are because banjo also makes a smaller burner like this, a bg12 I believe.

I didn't research heat shields when I got this and just made one out of sheet metal which has worked really well so far! Brewers Hardware does make one for this burner http://www.brewershardware.com/12-heat-shield-burner-mount.html

It looks kind of small though, the main reason I wanted one on mine was to act as a wind shield for the flame.

I have a couple of them on my brewstand. They work well but like mentioned above they chew through the propane.
Don't expect to get the advertised 185k BTU if you intend to use a 20# propane tank. It won't be any where close to that.
If I had to do over, I'd go with the sq-14.

My method was to use the KAB4 cooker. (Has that burner in the assembly). It had everything I needed. I could use it stand alone, until I cut them to mount to my brewstand. And I kept the shields in place. Understand they made a design change between my separate purchases. See my link below. If you search the KAB4 there are several threads discussing it's effectiveness. I am happy with mine.
