Looks interesting, but is it the correct size for a 6.5 or a 5 gallon carboy? Im sure it works like the valve on a whoopie coushin. give it a try and report back in the reviews section.
 
I have one of these for my erly flask as an airlock for my starters. It creates a seal as the integrated silicone "top" is touching a silicone "base". Silicone touching silicone provides a fairly good seal but still let out escaping CO2.

Personally, it would make me nervous to use this for anything other than for a starter or for a quick primary fermentation...a lock just seems safer to me.
