I made a John Bull masterclass porter which is around 6 lbs of LME, I followed the directions which included not adding any sugar. The brew came out pretty decent, as I do not have a hydrometer (next on the list) I was wondering what the alcohol percentage should be on a brew like this. thanks

LME has a potential to provide about 36 gravity points per pound LME per gallon water.

You used 6 pounds in 5 gallons:

(36 * 6)/5 = estimated gravity points = 43.2

Estimated OG = 1.0432

You'll probably finished at about 1.014-ish, so your estimated ABV would be about 3.8%.

I have been drinking Hefe Wiezens and bocks for the last few months so anything under 5% seems like water. thanks for the help!
